Robert E. Shults earned three letters in basketball and two in soccer at Oberlin. He was co-captain of the Yeomen cagers in his senior year and held single game, season, and three year scoring records. His batting average in baseball was .352 in his junior year and went on to play professional baseball for a farm club in the Boston Red Sox system prior to his induction into the Marine Corps in 1951. For the past 30 years, Shults has been professor of physical education and coach of soccer and baseball at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. He retired as basketball coach in 1978.
