A four-year member of the women's tennis team, Kimiko Hammons née Glynn earned numerous conference and regional athletic honors during her tenure with the Crimson and Gold.
Earning North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) First-Team honors in doubles with teammate Bianca Barr in 2005, Hammons also tabbed the NCAC Newcomer of the Year, NCAC Player of the Year, and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Rookie of the Year awards for her outstanding rookie performance. Hammons went on to earn All-NCAC First-Team honors in singles play for her remaining three years while also garnering Second-Team accolades in doubles play with teammate Jackie Golden her senior year.
Finishing her senior season with a perfect 7-0 record against NCAC opponents, Hammons graduated with a 52-14 overall record, including a 25-8 conference record, and received the Honda Scholar-Athlete Award, awarded by Oberlin to a senior athlete from a women's team who has demonstrated outstanding athletic achievements as well as leadership skills, academic excellence, and community involvement. Following her remarkable career, Hammons was named to the 30th Anniversary NCAC All-Decade Team in 2014. Excelling beyond the court, Hammons was a two-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic honoree, earning All-Academic recognition in 2005 and 2008.
While at Oberlin, Hammons was also involved with the Oberlin Opera Theater, Oberlin College Choir, and was a SongWorks Student Instructor.
A 2008 graduate and member of the conservatory, Hammons earned a Bachelor of Music Education with a Choral Emphasis and Voice Performance minor before completing her Master's of Music in Human Learning at the University of Texas at Austin in 2010. Hammons is a music teacher in Omaha, Nebraska, while also performing in a local choral group. She resides with her spouse, Alan, and three children, Jacob, Caleb, and Eli.
