Richard Studer, a member of the Class of 1950, earned three varsity letters in football, four in baseball and two in basketball. Studer was the baseball batting champion in 1947 with a batting average of 413. He was the captain of the baseball team. During his days at Oberlin, he was the White House dorm director for two years and the White House Scholarship was founded in his memory. After receiving his B.A., in physical education, Studer went to work for the Warmey Swasey Company in Cleveland and advanced their management program. He was the chief executive officer and chairman of the board for the HPM Corporation. Studer also held directorships at Bank One , Wyandot Incorporated and Larson Foundaries. Studer received the Achievement Award from the Plastics Hall of Fame, which was the first given to a machinery manufacturer executive. He also has been a part of the Society of Plastics Industries as a member of the Board of Directors for 12 years and secretary of the society for two years. Studer was very active in the community serving on the City of Marion YMCA Endowment Board, as the chairman of the Morow County Foundation, as chairman of the board for the Ohio Med Center Foundation and as chairman for the United Way Campaign in Morrow County. Studer passed away in 1993. He was married to Beverly, a 1951 Oberlin graduate. The couple had four children, Karen, Keith, Kimberly and Richard E.
