Marty Dugan came to Oberlin College in 1969 from St. Edward's High School in Lakewood, Ohio, and graduated in 1973 with an A.B. in sociology and physical education. He earned four varsity letters in basketball at Oberlin, playing in 85 of a possible 87 games and serving as team co-captain as a senior. During his freshman season the Yeomen finished 16-6 and claimed the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament title with a 65-58 victory over Wittenberg. An outstanding ball handler, Dugan dished out 155 assists during the 1971-72 season setting a single-season school record. His best offensive season was in 1972 when he scored 169 points and average 7.7 points per game. Playing in the backcourt with 1991 Heisman Hall of Fame inductee Vic Guerrieri for three seasons, Dugan finish his career with 460 points, 256 rebounds, and a school-record 301 assists. During his four-year basketball career at Oberlin, he helped the Yeomen to an overall record of 44-43 and a conference tournament record of 7-3. In the spring, Dugan earned four varsity letters as a member of the golf team. He served as team captain and coach during his senior season. After graduating from Oberlin, Dugan enrolled at Central Michigan University and earned a master of arts in educational administration in 1975. He returned to Oberlin in 1977 as assistant director of the alumni association and remained with the college until 1981. Dugan is currently vice president for facility management at Herman Miller, Inc., of Holland, Michigan.
