In her first year at Oberlin, Lee single-handedly started the track and cross country programs. For track, she organized meetings, recruited across campus, and found meets for the team. At the time, the number of people on the track team was between four and five, and yet, they went head-to-head with Ohio State, Illinois, Bowling Green, Kent State, etc. On the weekends when she couldn't get an Oberlin competition, she ventured to local road races and then came back and insisted that The Review covered her accomplishments.
