Ann Brown Stevens has been a supporter of health and wellness all her life.  As an Oberlin student in the mid 1950s, she kept her body as active as her mind by constantly participating in intramural athletic activities because there were no interscholastic sports for females during the pre-Title IX era. Stevens was a member of the synchronized swimming club as an undergrad. Swimming is a sport she continues to do competitively to this day at the local, state, national, and world level.  She also is very active in ballroom dancing and both activities keep her busy at least five times a week. Post-Oberlin, Stevens taught abroad, received her masters from the University of Wisconsin in 1963, and had another educational stop prior to settling in at Evanston Township High School in Illinois where she taught physical education for 31 years, spending the last 20 as the Chair of the Physical Education Department. Stevens has been active with the Illinois Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance serving as its president in 1983. The health & wellness guru is an annual donor to the Heisman Club, gearing her gifts towards making sure all students have an opportunity to develop a healthy body and mind.  Oberlin Magazine featured Stevens in its summer 2013 issue titled "Staying in the Game: Portraits of Lifelong Athletes."
