Westlake, Ohio — Oberlin College field hockey junior Mary Rodman was recognized by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Tuesday morning, earning NCAC Field Hockey Athlete of the Week honors following a standout performance this past week. The honor marks the first time Rodman has received the award.
Rodman delivered the game-winning goal 4:46 into overtime to lift the Yeowomen to a 2-1 victory over John Carroll on Saturday morning at Bailey Field. The goal, her third of the season, came on her only shot of the afternoon and sealed the win at the 64:46 mark, sending the home crowd into celebration.
"I'm incredibly proud of Mary and the way she continues to show up for this program. Scoring the overtime game winner against John Carroll on Senior Day was such a fitting moment for someone who has consistently competed with toughness, composure, and a team-first mentality." Head Coach Jess Wess said. "This was her second overtime goal in conference play, and that says a lot about her ability to stay composed and make big plays when the moment matters most. Mary has put so much into this team, and I'm excited to see her recognized for the impact she continues to make."
The win capped a 2026 season that included a Homecoming victory over Washington & Jefferson, wins over John Carroll and Wittenberg, and a historic showing against Kenyon. Rodman's overtime goal against the Blue Streaks was her third of the year. Oberlin graduates five seniors this spring and will look to build on this season heading into 2027.
