Westlake, Ohio – Oberlin College field hockey senior
Clare Kammeier was recognized by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Tuesday morning, garnering her first career NCAC Athlete of the Week award following a remarkable performance over the week.
"I'm so proud of Clare and excited to see her recognized by the conference. Scoring her first career hat trick and adding an assist was an incredible performance, but Clare brings so much more to our team than what shows up on the stat sheet. She competes for her teammates, continues to raise her own standard, and has played an important role in the growth of this program. It was really special to watch everything come together for her against Transylvania, and she absolutely earned this recognition," Head Coach
Jess West adds.
Kammeier scored her first career hat trick within the first half of the game with three goals and one assist in a 6-1 win over Transylvania, with the second two goals less than three minutes apart. Not only did the senior produce her own career benchmark, but her assist led to a teammate's first career goal.
The 6-1 conference victory marks the most goals scored in a game by Oberlin since 2013, when they beat Wheelock 8-0, and Kammeier's hat trick marks the first hat trick from an Oberlin athlete in 13 years, when Ariana Enzerink '17 scored a trio of goals in Oberlin's victory over Wheelock.
The Crimson and Gold return to action on Saturday, October 24, in their final road contest of the regular season when they take on Allegheny at 12 p.m.
