Field Hockey Competes Against Allegheny on the Road

Meadville, Pa. – The Oberlin College field hockey team closed out its road regular-season NCAC schedule with a 2-0 loss to Allegheny on Saturday afternoon.

Oberlin finished with 10 shots, including three on goal, led by Tilford's three attempts and two shots on target. Rubin recorded three saves in 60 minutes in goal.

Oberlin came out aggressively in the first quarter, generating several early opportunities. Clare Kammeier, Shelby Roth, and Zoë Hamilton each recorded a shot, while the Obies earned back-to-back penalty corners from Samantha Finkelberg. Bella Tilford put two shots on goal, but the Allegheny goalkeeper turned away both attempts. The Gators opened the scoring at 6:21 to put a goal on the blank scoreboard.

The Crimson and Gold continued to search for the equalizer in the second quarter. Oberlin earned another penalty corner and recorded shots from Roth and Tilford, but neither attempt found the back of the cage. Goalkeeper Mia Rubin made a save on an Allegheny shot at 25:14 as the Obies worked to keep the deficit at one heading into halftime.

Both teams were held scoreless in the third quarter. Oberlin created opportunities through Johana Horvath, who put a shot on goal at 40:43, and Kammeier, who added another attempt late in the period. The Obies' defense also worked to limit Allegheny's scoring chances, keeping the Gators off the scoreboard through 45 minutes.

Rubin made two saves in quick succession late in the fourth quarter to keep Oberlin within striking distance. Allegheny eventually added a second and final goal at 54:54. Oberlin earned one final penalty corner in the closing minutes, and Paloma Szyfer registered a shot as the Crimson and Gold continued to push until the final whistle.

The Crimson and Gold will close out the 2026 regular season on Saturday, October 31, hosting John Carroll University for Senior Day at 11 a.m. at Bailey Field.
