Box Score Springfield, Ohio – Concluding their regular season on the road, the Oberlin College women's tennis team fell in a 6-3 battle to Wittenberg on Saturday afternoon. The loss brings their regular season record to 8-9 while they go an even 3-3 in NCAC play.
In the No. 2 doubles match,
Lydia Zafeiri and
Dina Nouaime made quick work of their Tiger counterparts, sweeping the Wittenberg duo 8-0.
Marta Laska and
Anna Pastore fought in a close match, but ultimately came up on the losing end of an 8-6 score.
The woes for Laska and Pastore continued as both took losses in their singles matches. Laska dropped the top slot 6-4, 4-6 then fell 10-4 in the tiebreaker. The No. 2 singles player, Pastore, suffered a similar fate at 6-3, 0-6, then fell 6-1 in the third set.
Zafeiri and Nouaime continued their impressive play as each collected singles victories. No. 3 Nouaime took down Wittenberg's Meyers 6-2, 6-2 while Zafeiri won her match 6-1, 6-2.
The Yeowomen now look ahead to post season play and the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. The small squad currently sits in fourth place in the conference and await the completion of conference matches to know their final seeding. The tournament will begin next Friday, April 21 and will be hosted by in Granville, Ohio by Denison, the reigning conference champion.
Oberlin travels to Delaware, Ohio for their next conference test to take on Ohio Wesleyan. The matchup is set for next Saturday, April 22 at 1pm. A live stream will be available
