Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College women's tennis team extended their 7-0 win streak to three as they defeated Otterbein in their final regular-season match of the season. With the victory, the Crimson and Gold improve to 13-5 (4-3).
Hannah Soong and Freya Rahm teamed up at No. 1, propelling ahead to a 6-2 victory. With Otterbein not having enough players for a court three doubles team, it was up to court two to clinch the doubles point for Oberlin. With Olivia Wollner and Stella Kollsmansberger paired up, the duo collected the 6-3 victory, securing the doubles point.
Scarlett Kingston powered to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 to open singles action for Oberlin. On court one, Kollmansberger grabbed the 6-1 victory and persevered to a 7-5 win in the second set to extend the Crimson and Gold's edge to three. Olivia Guzman garnered the clinch at No. 5, winning 6-3 in her first set and then sweeping her opponent 6-0 in the second set.
With the victory claimed at 4-0, Rachel Allen persevered on court three in her first set to win 7-5. Carrying her momentum to the next set, Allen swept her opponent 6-0. Rahm defeated her opponent 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 at No. 4 to close out the day as court six had been decided.
Securing the No. 4 seed in the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament, hosted by Kenyon, Oberlin will face fifth-seeded Ohio Wesleyan in the quarterfinal round on Friday, May 1, at 11 a.m.
