Box Score Hiram, Ohio – Looking for its second win of the season against the Hiram College Terriers, the Oberlin College volleyball team came up short, falling in straight sets on Wednesday night by the scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-15.
In the five-set victory back on September 3, the Yeowomen had 44 kills and hit .152 for the match. Unfortunately, tonight's match was a much different story with 26 kills and an attack percentage of .075.
First-year
Lexi Mitchell guided the offense with eight kills on 22 swings, while
Ave Spencer,
Jillian Hostetler and
Dana Thomas each added four. Mitchell also chipped in with five digs, an ace and three total blocks.
Sophomore
Sara Chang did the bulk of the distributing to Oberlin's hitters as she posted 12 assists to go along with a team-high nine digs. Senior
Meredith Leung aided the attack with six helpers of her own.
Sophomore
Emily Kelkar added seven digs in the back row and dropped in one of the team's four service aces.
The loss dropped the Yeowomen's record to 4-8 overall and 0-3 in the NCAC.
Oberlin returns home on Saturday afternoon to host the Tigers of DePauw University at 1 p.m.
