Volleyball Faces Kenyon in Season Finale

Gambier, Ohio - The Oberlin College volleyball team wrapped up their 2025 campaign on the road, facing Kenyon in a conference matchup. Despite a strong effort, the Yeowomen fell 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-15) to the Owls.

First-year Mara Geiger led with 8.0 points with five kills and three aces, while classmate Brylie Peters registered 7.0 points on six kills and an ace. Senior Jillian Jendsen produced 13 assists, ten digs, and an ace to conclude her career with 886 assists.

The Crimson and Gold secured the opening point off a kill from Peters, with Iris Archibald posting the assist. Holding a slight 6-4 deficit, Kenyon recorded a five-point run to maintain a three-point lead ahead of Oberlin. Trailing the hosts 13-9, Geiger delivered a pair of kills, and Jendsen added an ace and a kill to level the match. The Owls responded with their own four-point run as the two teams continued to exchange in back-and-forth play with Kenyon claiming the narrow 25-23 victory to close out the first set.

Oberlin opened the second session with the first five points, highlighted by a pair of Geiger aces and a kill from Josie Macdonald. The Owls regained their rhythm to follow with an eight-point surge and claim an 8-5 edge. The Crimson and Gold found opportunities to break up the hosts' momentum but were unable to slow the aggressive Kenyon offense.

Oberlin had some strong offensive highlights in the third frame with five different Obies producing kills throughout the set, including Genna Gauthier and Alira Allen. Holding a slight 12-11 advantage, the Owls notched a seven-point rally to extend their lead to 19-11. A pair of kills from Zeynep Kaya and a kill from Peters hoped to launch a strong rhythm for Oberlin, but Kenyon was able to capitalize on that mid-set surge to clinch the 3-0 sweep.

The Crimson and Gold wrap up their season at 4-21 overall, going 0-7 in NCAC action. Oberlin tallied 900 kills on the season, a 30-kill improvement from their 2024 campaign, while improving their season assists to a staggering 841.

"It was a tough season, but I'm proud of the work we've put in and our commitment to not quitting when faced with adversity," Head Coach Jasmine Brown adds. "We're looking forward to getting back in the gym during our spring season and building for our future."

The Crimson and Gold now turn their attention to the spring offseason, where they'll return all but their five graduating seniors.
