Meadville, PA – The Oberlin College men's basketball team dropped a critical North Coast Athletic contest at Allegheny College on Wednesday night by the score of 64-44.
The Yeomen were never really in it from the start and were unable to regroup as they shot just 30.1-percennt (17-of-56) from the floor.
Andrew Fox was the lone Yeomen in double figures as he finished with 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season. Freshman
Austin Little chipped in with nine points in the loss.
After 20 minutes of play, the Yeomen found themselves staring at a big deficit on the scoreboard as they trailed 36-19 at the break. Back-to-back Oberlin jumpers by
Hal Sundt and Fox cut the Gators' lead down to 12, 28-16, with 4:38 to go, but Allegheny responded by closing the frame with eight of the next 11 points.
While the second half was much more closely contested, Oberlin was still out-scored by Allegheny 28-25. The Yeomen would get no closely than 15 points in the second half.
The Gators turned in one of their best shooting nights of the season, checking in at 51-percent (27-of-53). Allegheny also benefited from a 42-26 edge on the boards.
With the loss Oberlin fell to 6-14 overall and 1-10 in the NCAC, while Allegheny improved to 5-15 and 3-8 in the league.
The Yeomen will look to quickly forget about this one as they go right back to work on Saturday afternoon when Ohio Wesleyan comes to town for a 3 p.m. showdown.
