Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Oberlin Surpasses 100 points on Saturday Afternoon

Oberlin, Ohio – Scoring the 108 in an offensive showcase, the Oberlin College men's basketball team soared past Waynesburg on Saturday. Winning 108-69, the Crimson and Gold's final score is the largest since the Yeomen scored 111 against Muskingum in 2017. For context, 111 points ties the most scored in a single game in program history.

"What an incredible full team performance today. Our guys were locked in from the start. We preached to our guys in practice that we have to continue to build and play to our standard and that's exactly what we did." Head Coach Shiva Senthil continued, "Now it's about continuing to get better as we head into NCAC play."

JJ Gray and Augustus Donohue tallied 17 points each to lead the high-scoring affair, while Zach Smith (15) and Milun Micanovic (11) finished in double-digits as well. Noah Kim led the passing game with five assists, seeing another three each from Liam Gray and Sam Kamenko.

On the boards, Micanovic pulled in eight, with Kamenko accounting for another six rebounds. J. Gray and Uros Petrusic combined for seven steals.

Rob Magner dunked the ball to start the game, signaling the start of an lopsided matchup. Less than four minutes in, J. Gray hit a triple to put the Yeomen up by 12. Oberlin never looked back and continued to cruise past the Yellow Jackets. 16 points off turnovers and 24 points in the paint led to a Crimson and Gold lead of 52-28 at the half.

After Waynesburg hit a shot from behind the arch to start the second period, Magner responded with a three of his own to get the Yeomen rolling. At the 17:17 mark, Smith knocked down a jumper from a Matt Andreopoulos defensive rebound, to give Oberlin a 30-point advantage. Oberlin extended it to as much as 46 after Will Manfredi collected a steal and dished it out to Mouhamed Toure for a quick layup.

Oberlin finished with 54 points from the bench, and 33 points coming off Wayneburg turnovers. Additionally, the Yeomen hit 42 field goals and 14 three-pointers, while giving up just ten points from turnovers.

The Crimson and Gold earn a well-deserved break for over the holiday shutdown and look ahead to opened North Coast Athletic Conference play in their next outing. Returning to Philips on Wednesday, December 3, Oberlin welcomes Wooster to town for the conference opener. Late-night tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
