Fredericksburg, Va. –
Bridgewater College proved to be no match for the Oberlin College women's tennis team as the Yeowomen swept the Eagles 9-0 on Friday evening.

“This was a good win for us tonight,” head coach Constantine Ananiadis said. “We had a long drive out here today and I was happy with the way the team responded.”

The only real challenge for the Yeowomen (4-1) came in the No. 1 doubles duel, but the senior tandem of Olivia Hayden and Kelly Sipp were able to outlast Megan Mathias and Alissa Michael 9-8 and 12-10 in the tiebreak.

First-year Ariel Lewis, who is ranked No. 24 in the central region, made short work of Jessica Hill in the No. 1 singles spot by disposing of her with a 6-0 count in both sets.

O. Hayden improved her dual-meet record to 4-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Michael in the No. 2 position.

Sipp, Jane Hayden, and Sarah Teitelbaum breezed to victory in sports three through five.

Newly acquired Nattie Chan improved to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 thumping of Morgan McGhee at No. 6 to complete the sweep.

Oberlin will not have much time to celebrate the victory as they will go right back to work tomorrow afternoon against the University of Mary Washington.
