Westlake, Ohio – After a breakout season, the Oberlin College men's tennis team earned a handful of All-Conference honors, as announced by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Thursday morning.
Head Coach
Eric Ishida headlined the honors with his third career NCAC Coaching Staff of the Year accolade. Earning the award in 2015 and 2017, the veteran coach led the Crimson and Gold to their winningest season of his tenure, and a No. 3 seed in the conference tournament.
In addition to the major coaching honor,
Shawn Lisann and
Dash Smith garnered NCAC All-Conference Second-Team honors for singles play, while Lisann and his doubles partner
Cameron Weiss earned Second-Team honors as a pairing.
Lisann a dominate senior who's won 93 career matches, earned his third conference postseason honor for singles, and third for doubles. The 6x NCAC athlete posted a 12-13 record in singles, and 12-7 in doubles this year. Lisann spent his career one courts one and two, collecting four wins in conference play.
A first-year phenom, Smith earns the first honor of his career after dominating on the hard court and starting all but one conference match on court one. The rookie went 15-6 in singles play this year, including a 3-2 record in North Coast action.
The rookie-vet pairing on Weiss and Lisann proved fruitful on the court, making for the Yeomen's top doubles team with an 8-4 record. In the conference the pair went 5-3, finishing the season with back-to-back wins over Wittenberg and Wooster in the NCAC Tournament. Weiss, a first-year from New York, and Lisann made their debut against Lawrence in March. The duo competed on the top court throughout the Yeomen's NCAC season.
Oberlin, who peaked at No. 26 in the country, ranked the highest in program history while accumulating five sweeps on 15 wins. While Lisann is set to graduate later this month, Smith and Weiss are among Oberlin's exceptionally strong returning class that will look to make another postseason run in 2027.
