Wooster, OH – On the second day of the NCAC Combined Events competition, first-year
Xavier English finished the final three events of the heptathlon while a trio of Yeowomen competed in the women's pentathlon.
Senior
Clare Tiedemann highlighted the day, setting a pair of school records as her 3,157 total points bested Christine Impara's total of 2,995 that she set in 2020. The New York City native also reset her own school-best mark in the 60-meter hurdles with a winning of time of 9.01, which ties her for 22nd in the nation. Tiedemann's next-best finish came in the long jump with a clearance of 17-00 (5.18m) to place second overall before adding another second-place showing in the 800-meters with a time of 2:25.83.
Hayden Hill totaled 2,569 points to place fourth in the 11-person field. She ended in the top five of three of the five events, which included fourth-place finishes in the high jump (4-10.50 / 1.49m) and shot put (28‑11.75 / 8.83m). The View Park, California, product was fifth in the 800-meters in 2:40.72. Sophomore
Aimee Watts was seventh with 2,550 points. The Pembroke, Massachusetts, native tied Hill in the high jump for fourth at 4-10.50 (1.49m) and was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 27‑06.75 (8.40m). She added another fifth-place finish in the long jump at 15‑04.75 (4.69m).
The Oberlin grouping secured 15 team points that will go towards their total for next week's conference championship meet.
English capped off his first heptathlon with 3,709 points to place ninth overall. His highest finish of the afternoon came in the 1,000 meters as he checked in fourth in the 1,000 meters in a personal-best time of 2:59.58 and he would add another PR in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.64 to place second.
The Oberlin track and field teams continue their championship run on Friday, February 25, for day one of the NCAC Championships at Wittenberg University.
