Box Score 2 Columbus, Ohio - The Oberlin College volleyball team earned a pair of wins on Saturday afternoon at Capital University. The Yeowomen topped Franciscan University in four sets before powering through for a five-set triumph over La Roche.
The victories lifted the Yeowomen to 7-5 overall and started a mini three-match winning streak in the process.

It was a seesaw four-set affair for the Yeowomen against the Barons with two closely contested sets and two lopsided victories. In the end, Oberlin prevailed 25-10, 28-30, 25-8, 25-23.
Franciscan had no answer for sophomore
Emery Beacom as she hit an impressive .588 with 11 kills on 17 swings with just one error.
Maura Gibbs matched Beacom with 11 send-downs in the triumph.
The diverse attack also featured nine kills for
Natasha Radic, eight from
Iyanna Lewis, and seven by Mclean Sammon.
Samantha Lam, who had 15 digs, had the offense in system as she dished out 23 assists while rookie
Lindsey Felton added 14 helpers of her own.
Lauren Fitts led the backline unit with 18 digs.
In the match-clinching fourth set, the score was tied at 21 but kills by Lewis and Beacom around a Barons' attack error had Oberlin within match point. Following two rebuttal points by Franciscan, Lewis would finish the match with another kill to give Oberlin the win.

The Yeowomen and Red Hawks went swing-for-swing throughout the thrilling five-set battle with Oberlin coming out on the right side of a 25-12, 19-25, 25-15, 24-26, 15-11 scoreline.
The Yeowomen were guided by the trio of Gibbs (16), Beacom (13), and Sammon (12) as they combined for 41 of the team's 55 kills. Gibbs also added 10 digs and two aces - half of Fitts' team-high total of four.
Lam did the bulk of the setting, finishing with 31 helpers to accompany her team-high 15 digs. Sophomore
Zoe Kuzbari aided the defensive effort with 14 digs in the win.
Oberlin will open conference play and take to the Philips Gym floor for the first time this season when The College of Wooster comes to town for a 7 p.m. NCAC clash on Tuesday night.
