Box Score 2 Marietta, Ohio – The Oberlin College volleyball team went 2-0 on Friday at the Marietta College River City Invitational, defeating Emory & Henry in four sets before topping Thiel College in straight sets.
The Yeowomen took down the Wasps 25-8, 25-27, 27-25, and 25-15 and would later set aside the Tomcats by identical 26-24 scorelines before winning the third set 25-14.

Coming off an all-conference season as a freshman, sophomore
Lexi Mitchell picked up right where she left off, hammering home 14 kills while dropping in seven service aces. She was the NCAC's top server in 2016 with 51 aces.
Senior
Dana Thomas also stood tall in the middle, sending down 13 kills on 24 swings, while
Sara Change completed the trio of double-digit finishers with 10 send-downs on 17 attempts.
Sophomore
Samantha Lam had the offense in rhythm as she dished out 40 assists in the triumph.
Mitchell's stellar season debut also featured a team-best 18 digs; while
Emily Kelkar scooped up 11 digs of her own to go along with four aces.
Sophomore
Jaya Flynn-Young aided the winning cause with six kills and a team-high three blocks.

Mitchell continued her strong play in the nightcap, ripping off a team-high 15 kills in the win, but sophomore classmate
Maura Gibbs also stepped up to contribute a career-high 14 kills in the straight-set victory.
Offensively, Thomas added six kills, while Lam and Chang each chipped in with five. As a team, the Yeowomen hit .414 for the match with 48 kills and 12 errors on 87 attempts.
Lam continued her giving ways passing out 42 assists while adding five digs.
Kelkar paced the backline with seven digs and added four more aces in the match.
Oberlin had seven blocks at the net with Lam and Gibbs each having two.
The Yeowomen will be back in action tomorrow morning as they take on Transylvania at 11 a.m. before tangling with West Virginia Institute of Technology in the afternoon.
