Yeowomen Volleyball Can’t Slow Down Division II Ursuline

Oberlin, Ohio – The Ursuline College Arrows earned a straight-set victory over the Oberlin College volleyball team on Wednesday night at Philips Gym. After taking the first set 25-21, the Arrows went on win the next two games by identical 25-17 scorelines.
 
It was just the third time in 12 matches so far this season that the Yeowomen fell in straight sets. They now sit at 4-8 on the season, having dropped four of their last five matches. With the victory the Arrows moved to 4-1 on the year.
 
The Yeowomen never found their offensive flow, hitting just .076 on the night. They hindered themselves by making 24 attack errors and seven service errors.
 
First-year Claudia Scott guided the attack with nine kills on 29 swings, while Ave Spencer and Hannah Tyburski each finished with eight. Spencer led the team in hitting at .217 as she committed just three errors on 23 attempts.
 
Sophomore setter Meredith Leung did her part to keep the offense in rhythm as she finished with 28 assists.
 
Defensively, Molly Powers was the lone Yeowomen with double-digit digs as she recorded 14 in the setback.
 
The Yeowomen have a busy weekend ahead as they will take on both DePauw University and Manchester University on Saturday.
