Box Score 2 Wooster, Ohio – First-year middle hitter
Dana Thomas earned All-Tournament honors as Oberlin volleyball went 1-1 on Saturday to conclude the 2014 College of Wooster Kilt Classic.
Over the weekend, Thomas collected 20 kills, eight digs, 10 blocks and 2 service aces to earn All-Tournament accolades.
For the second time of the 2014 campaign, the Yeowomen handed Franciscan University a 3-1 (27-25, 25-15, 25-21, 25-23) defeat to begin play on Saturday. Following their second triumph over the Lady Barons, the Yeowomen surrendered a 3-1 (17-25, 25-21, 20-25, 14-25) loss the Muskingum University in their second match of the day.
The Lady Barons struck first, taking the first set 27-25. Oberlin rallied to take the next set in convincing fashion. In the third and fourth, the Yeowomen outlasted the Lady Barons attempt to regain control of the match.

Ave Spencer led the way offensively against Franciscan with 11 kills followed by first year
Claudia Scott who tallied nine.
Defensive specialist, junior
Molly Powers collected a game-high 21 digs, while sophomore setter
Meredith Leung broke into double figures with 13. Leung also led the Yeowomen with 32 assists in game one.
Against the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum University, the Yeowomen fought valiantly but could not get the job done.
The first set went the Muskies way, but Oberlin stole the second set with a late surge. The Yeowomen kept the third set close until the Muskingum offense came to life to close out the match in the fourth.
Spencer led the team again with 13 kills, followed by
Maddy Dunn who registered nine. Thomas hit a weekend high offensively against the Fighting Muskies with eight kills, one ace and three combined blocks.
Defensively, Powers and Leung both hit double-figures with 18 and 11 digs respectively. For the second consecutive match, Leung tallied 30+ assists with 34 against the Muskies.
With a 1-3 outing at the Kilt Classic, the Yeowomen move to 4-7 overall as they begin North Coast Athletic Conference play in one week's time.
Oberlin volleyball will return to the court on Wednesday, September 17 as they host Ursuline College at 7 p.m.
