Oberlin, Ohio- The Oberlin College women's volleyball team won two matches in commanding fashion at the Oberlin Invite against visiting La Roche College and Albion College on Saturday.
In their first match of the day, the Yeowomen defeated La Roche in four sets 25-2, 23-25, 25-16, and 25-12.
Senior
Laura Jessee led Oberlin with 20 kills and four blocks in the match. Sophomore
Jenna Bange added seven kills of her own along with leading the Yeowomen in assists with 32. Bange also contributed four aces and 10 digs. Junior
Kristen Johnson matched Bange's ace count from service with four aces, as well.
Freshman
Molly Powers led Oberlin in digs with 17, while freshman
Shavonne Stanek ended the match with 14.
In their second match, Oberlin defeated Albion in four sets 25-18, 17-25, 25-21, and 25-23.
Jessee led the Yeowomen in kills again with her second 20-kill performance of the day. She also added three blocks.
Sophomore
Christine Antonsen also had a double-digit total in kills, finishing with 10.
Bange had 37 assists and nine digs in the match.
Powers and Stanek led in digs for the second time on Saturday with 20 and 19, respectively. Powers finished with four aces from service.
The Yeowomen improve to 7-4 on the season and will travel to Hiram College on September 19 to take on the Terriers in their first conference match.
