Springfield, Ohio- The Oberlin College women's volleyball team split in the final two rounds of the NCAC tournament against Denison and Allegheny, earning it seventh place in the conference championship to finish the season.
The Yeowomen dropped their first match of the day to Denison in the semifinal consolation round of the NCAC tournament. Oberlin lost in three sets by the scores of 11-25, 15-25, and 10-25.
Senior
Laura Jessee led with six kills for the Yeowomen, while sophomore
Emma Kimmel and junior
Kristen Johnson followed with three each.
First-year
Molly Powers led Oberlin with 11 digs in the match, as Kimmel and senior
Chinwe Okona added seven of their own.
Sophomore
Jenna Bange finished with 14 assists.
In their final match of the season, the Yeowomen defeated Allegheny in three sets 27-25, 25-16, 25-11.
Jessee led Oberlin again in kills with 12, and Okona and Johnson followed with six a piece. Jessee finished the match hitting .440.
First-year
Maddy Dunn led the Yeowomen with five blocks, while Johnson and Jessee ended the match with four and three, respectively.
Sophomore
Christine Antonsen had four aces from service in the match. Powers led in digs for the second time on the day, finishing with 14 against the Gators. Powers, also added three aces from service.
Bange, the Yeowomen setter, finished with 33 assists in the match.
Just one year after a one-win season in 2011, head coach
Erica Rau and the Yeowomen won 10 games in 2012, finished in eighth place in the conference regular season, and took seventh place in the conference tournament.
