Jessee Reaches Career Milestone as Yeowomen Split Senior Day Tri-Match

The Yeowomen finished with a 9-16 regular season on Saturday after defeating Ohio Wesleyan
Oberlin, Ohio- Senior Laura Jessee reached 1000 career kills on Saturday as the Oberlin College women's volleyball team went 1-1 at its final home tri-match of the year against Buffalo State and Ohio Wesleyan.
 
The Yeowomen opened the day dropping their match against Buffalo State in three sets 25-12, 25-15, 25-20.
 
Jessee led Oberlin in kills with 12, securing her 1000th career kill in the second game. She also finished with three blocks in the match, two of which were solos.
 
First-year Maddy Dunn followed with seven kills, while first-year Molly Powers led the Yeowomen in digs with 13.
 
Sophomore Jenna Bange followed with 10 digs and finished with 27 assists.
 
Oberlin's second match of the day was a back and forth battle against Ohio Wesleyan that went five sets. The Yeowomen defeated the Battling Bishops 25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 12-25, and 15-12.
 
Jessee led the Yeowomen for the second time on Saturday in kills with 22 against the Battling Bishops. Sophomore Emma Kimmel followed in kills with 10, while also ending the match with 20 digs. Senior Chinwe Okona, first-year Shavonne Stanek, and Powers also finished the match 20 digs.
 
Dunn led Oberlin in blocks with three. Sophomore Chirstine Antonsen had four aces from service, while Bange ended the match with three of her own.
 
Bange went on to set a career high with 50 sets in the match, nine more than her previous personal best at Oberlin.
 
The Yeowomen ended the regular season with a 9-16 record and will continue onto postseason play when they take on top-seeded Wittenberg in the conference tournament on November 2.
