Men's Tennis Falters in Day One Action at GLCA's

Men's Tennis dropped a pair of matches during day one action at the GLCA's
Final Results vs. DePauw
Final Results vs. Allegheny

Newark, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's tennis team completed first and second round action in the Great Lakes College Association Tournament today. Blustery weather forced all matches to indoor facilities. Oberlin fell to DePauw University in the first round and dropped their afternoon match to Allegheny College.

The Yeomen drew fourth seed DePauw in their opening match. The Tigers are currently ranked 19th in the latest Division III Campbell/Intercollegiate Tennis Association College Tennis Rankings and quickly proved to be a formidable foe.

Oberlin could do little against the Tigers in doubles play dropping all three matches providing DePauw a 3-0 cushion heading into singles play.

OC's No. 3 and 5 hitters were the only Yeomen to have matches reach completion. Eliot Heaton fell to Noah Swiler 6-0, 6-2 and Evan Hunter defeated Peder Davis providing the Tigers with their fourth and fifth team points. Today's dual matches were played to decision due to the number of matches taking place indoors.

Afternoon action saw the Yeomen square off against North Coast Athletic Conference opponent Allegheny College.

Allegheny used solid efforts in doubles action to go ahead 3-0 and earned wins from the second and sixth singles positions to seal the win.

Twice Oberlin's top hitter Ben Godlove was left on court in unfinished matches.

The Yeomen (3-16) are back in action tomorrow to finish out their play in the GLCA's at 10:30 a.m. when they face Albion College.
