Wooster, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's tennis team made the short trip south visiting nearby North Coast Athletic Conference foe The College of Wooster. In the first conference action of the season for both teams the Fighting Scots took control earning a 6-3 win.

Oberlin picked up a hard fought win at the No. 2 doubles position when Joe Leffler and Sam Towne gutted out a 9-8 (7-5) over Wooster's Brad Palanski and Matt Mandell.

The Yeomen's top duo of Ben Godlove and Ben Turchin were unable to provide Oberlin with a second doubles win; they were outlasted 8-6 by Matt Hoch and Ethan Arenstein.

Oberlin's Sergio Sanchez snapped a three-match skid with his win over Alex Turner in the No. 5 singles slot. Sanchez put together two good sets of tennis getting past Turner 6-3, 6-1.

“We played some good tennis today but it was disappointing to leave without a win. We could have had the match if a point or two fall our way in a couple of the matches. Turchin lost a tough one at No. 2 and our No. 1 doubles just missed out on providing a 2-1 advantage heading into singles,” commented head coach Adam Shoemaker.

Leffler earned a win over Wooster's No. 3 Arenstein using a 6-3 first set before the Fighting Scot would retire from the match.

The Yeomen are back in action on Friday and Saturday, April 9-10 when they will be participating in the Great Lakes College Association Tournament. The tournament draw has not been announced.
