Yeomen Tennis Squad Falters in Spring Opener

Sr. Ben Godlove was a double winner today at #1 Doubles and #1 Singles
Final Results

Oberlin, Ohio – In the spring season opener the Oberlin College men's tennis team fell to the Pioneers of Malone University this afternoon.
Oberlin utilized three new pairings during doubles action today. Their lone victorious pair of Ben Godlove and Ben Turchin defeated Malone's Nathanael Rodd and Hunter Atkins in the #1 slot. The Yeomen duo gutted out a 9-7 win by taking the final four games.
Godlove was the only Yeomen to earn a win when the two teams squared off in singles play. The Yeomen ace defeated Rodd in straight sets (6-3, 6-2).
“Many of the matches were quite competitive and overall the match was closer than the final score indicates. We are looking forward to a week of practice before our matches on the weekend”, noted Head Coach Adam Shoemaker.
Turchin and Sam Towne were both involved in three set matches in the No. 2 and No. 5 singles slots.
Oberlin will be back in action on February 20 when it travels to Crawfordsville, Indiana for matches at Wabash College versus Wabash and Elmhust College.
