Oberlin, Ohio – After two decisive wins to start the match, the Oberlin College volleyball team needed to go the distance to pull out a thrilling five-game win over Allegheny College on Sunday afternoon.
The Yeowomen dismantled the Gators 25-18 and 25-22 in the first two sets, however, fell out of rhythm in the middle part of the match, losing 25-13 and 25-14.
Thankfully, with the match in the balance Oberlin was able to regroup to secure a 15-10 win in the final set. Oberlin was up 10-9 and back-to-back kills by
Laura Jessee and
Anna Frackman made it 12-9. It was Frackman who also hammered home the match point.
“This was a great win for us to fight through some adversity in the middle part of the match and be able to bounce back like that says a lot about our team,” Head Coach Carey Cavanagh said.
The Yewomen turned in one of their best offensive efforts of the season as Frackman and
Amanda Wysk combined for 40 kills, 23 of them via the right arm of Frackman. Frackman, a senior from Madison, Wisconsin, also led the way with a team-high 18 digs. Furthermore, she surpassed the 1,000 mark for career digs and also moved into second all-time in kills.
