Oberlin, Ohio – The visiting Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops proved to be no match for the Oberlin College volleyball team as the Yeowomen cruised to a straight set victory by the scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-19.
“We were able to get everyone involved and score in a variety of ways tonight,” Head Coach Carey Cavanaugh said. “We played with good composure and our offense was really in rhythm.”
Senior
Rita Kaplon had an impressive night orchestrating the Oberlin attack, averaging nearly 12 assists per set with 35 helpers in the match.
The distribution was widespread with first-year
Laura Jessee and junior
Amanda Wysk leading the way with nine kills each.
Anna Frackman added seven, while
Rosie Eck and
Maggie Jacobson recorded six of their own.
Senior
Tammela Platt led the way with 14 digs, while Wysk joined her in double-digits with 11.
The Yeowomen (11-11, 4-4 NCAC) hit an impressive .522 in the first set and committed just seven errors throughout the match.
Huge conference implications are on the line this weekend at the NCAC Play Date at Earlham College. The Yeowomen take on Earlham and Wooster on Saturday and Allegheny and Wooster on Sunday.
