Yeowomen Drop a Pair at Bishop Invitational

Volleybsll looks to regroup tomorrow morning.
September 5 – The Oberlin College volleyball team suffered a pair of setbacks on Friday evening, losing to Ohio Wesleyan 3-0 and falling to Defiance by the same count on day one of the Bishop Invitational.

The Yeowomen battled NCAC foe Ohio Wesleyan neck-and-neck throughout the match, but couldn't get over the hump as they fell 25-21, 25-22 and 25-21. In each game Oberlin rallied from behind, especially in game three when it overcame a 23-15 deficit to get within in three points before finally dropping the third in final game.

Maggie Jacobson helped keep OC close with three solo blocks and two block assists.

“A couple of plays here and there and the outcome could have turned out a lot different,” head coach Carey Cavanaugh said. “After the disappointing loss in the first match, we just couldn't regroup and get to the level we needed in order to beat Defiance.”

The offense really never got going against Defiance, but Tammela Platt added to her 20 dig total for the night in the match.

The Yeowomen have a quick turnaround as they take on Bluffton tomorrow morning at 9 a.m., before doing battle against Transylvania at 1 p.m.
