Volleyball Suffers From Season-Opening Jitters

Maggie Jacobson had 17 kills over two matches

Box Score vs. Marietta l Box Score vs. Thiel

August 29 –
The injury-riddled Oberlin College women's volleyball team suffered a pair of setbacks to start their season, losing to Marietta and Thiel each by the count of 3-0.

The Yeowomen, who were forced to play multiple underclassmen due to injury, were plagued by some first match jitters as they came out slow and were unable to recover.

Oberlin was also limited as their two top outside hitters, Amanda Wysk and Anna Frackman did not play.

Sophomore Maggie Jacobson was one of the bright spot from the Yeowomen in both matches as she finished with an impressive .636 attack percentage against the Pioneers by finishing off seven of her 11 swings with kills and no errors. She also followed suite in game two against Thiel with 10 more kills to lead to the team.

The Yeowomen will look to regroup tomorrow with a 12 p.m. match against a to-be-determined opponent, before they take on Bluffton at 2 p.m.
