Oct. 1 - The Oberlin Women's Volleyball team failed to capitalize off the momentum they built over the weekend with a win over Earlham and another promising game against Manchester. Wrapping up a four-game road trip at Wooster this evening, the Yeowomen were shut down in straight sets: 25-18, 25-20, 25-15.
Carey Cavanaugh's squad had been playing pretty good volleyball; winners of two of their last three conference showdowns. However too many errors and bad bounces went against Oberlin for them to stay in games against Wooster. Middle hitters
Maggie Jacobson and
Sara Blankemeyer worked hard to get things going, but the Yeowomen were unable to find the rhythm that had propelled them to victory just a few days ago.
With the loss, the Yeowomen fall to 3-13 (2-3 NCAC), while Wooster improved its season record to 9-8 (3-2 NCAC). The conference foes will face each other two more times this season, and the Yeowomen will be looking for much different results. In the meantime they will look to regroup in the friendly confines of Philips Gym, where they will welcome Ohio Wesleyan on Friday night (Oct. 3) at 7:00 pm.
