Westlake, Ohio – Helping the Oberlin College men's lacrosse team capture a historic victory over Denison,
Evan Sardina was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
Sardina delivered a dominant week at the face-off, controlling possession in both contests for the Yeomen to earn his first career NCAC weekly honor.
The junior went an incredible 44-for-49 combined on face-offs, including a near-perfect 21-of-22 performance against Wooster with 18 ground balls. He followed with another commanding outing in a 13-12 win over Denison, winning 23-of-27 face-offs while collecting 17 ground balls.
His efforts were instrumental in Oberlin's historic victory over Denison—the program's first win against the Big Red since 1960—snapping a 63-game losing streak. Sardina has now recorded three games this season with at least 20 face-off wins, establishing himself as one of the top specialists in the conference, and propelling Oberlin towards a top-seed for the conference tournament.
The Yeomen return to action tomorrow, Wednesday, April 22, when they travel to Kenyon. Afternoon face-off is slated for 4 p.m.
