Crimson and Gold Settle Tigers on Bailey

Oberlin, Ohio – Keeping their undefeated conference season alive the Oberlin College men's lacrosse team (RV), took down Wittenberg 9-3 on Wednesday night. The Yeomen move to 9-3 on the season and 4-0 in conference action.

Missing a few key players due to illness and injury, the short-staffed Yeomen were led by powerhouse Solomon Brennan with two goals. Cooper Zancosky added another two goals as well and one assist to lead Oberlin in points. Anders Burrows, Asher Friedman, Ryan Murphy, Andrew Rosa, and Luke Gerne also added scores in the game.

Nolan Greishaber collected six saves and a pair of ground balls as the Crimson and Gold netminder, while Evan Sardina went 8-14 from the face-off and scooped a team-best four ground balls. Rosa led the midfield with four ground balls and four caused turnovers, supported by Manolis Paragioudakis, Joe Chai, and Cooper Rand with three caused turnovers each.

The Tigers got the best of the Yeomen in the first frame of action, leaving Oberlin scoreless and down a goal. Rallying to take the lead and respond to the quiet start, the Yeomen added four goals in the second quarter. The first coming quick off the face-off, Zancosky found Burrows just outside the crease to put Oberlin on the board.

Wittenberg reclaimed the game at 3-2 with six minutes remaining, but Friedman and Rose scored just 56 seconds apart to give Oberlin the halftime advantage.

It was all Crimson and Gold in the second half, scoring five unanswered goals to keep the visitors at bay. Placing 14 shots on goal, the Tigers' keeper played his best game of the season to frustrate the nationally recognized home team.

Clinching the 9-3 win, the Yeomen look ahead to a date with Wooster on Tuesday, April 14. The road test is set for 7 p.m.
