Wooster, Ohio – Oberlin College men's track & field heptathlete
Kit Evans traveled to Wooster to compete in Day One of the NCAC Combined Events Championships. The fourth-year competed in the first four events of the heptathlon: the 60m dash, the long jump, the shot put, and the high jump. Evans notched three personal bests and scored a total of 2,225 points, placing him eighth on the day and setting him up well for Sunday's final three events.
Evans started the day with a personal best, running 7.66 in the 60m to score 662 points. He followed that with a leap of 5.73m in the long jump, gaining an additional 529 points.
In the shot put, the multis veteran hurled a personal-best mark of 11.14m, placing second in the event and scoring another 552 points.
Evans closed out the day with yet another personal best in the high jump, clearing 1.62m for 480 points.
Head Coach
Ben Wach was excited by Evan's start to the weekend. "Kit has set himself up for a tremendous heptathlon! To PR in 3 out of the 4 events is awesome, and his trip from two misses at opening height to a high jump PR sends him into day two with exactly the kind of momentum and resilience that makes for a great combined event."
Evans will return to Wooster tomorrow to finish the heptathlon (60m hurdles, pole vault, and the 1000m). He will be joined by pentathletes Celia Vaughn, Molly Button, and Averi Williams, who will complete the entire pentathlon in one day (60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and the 800m).
