New Orleans, Louisiana – Capping a year filled with numerous track & field honors, six Obies earned individual U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors while both the men's and women's team earned the USTFCCCA All-Academic team award for the seventh straight season.

Landing on the All-Academic Athlete list for the Crimson and Gold were Mirabel Adams, Amber Borofsky, Namu Makatiani, Liam Newman, Cooper Tanski, and Ella Wozek. Earning their 17th-straight team award, the women's team has maintained a cumulative team GPA of 3.64, while the men's team finished with a cumulative team GPA of 3.40 to earn their seventh-consecutive team accolade.

"We are thrilled for these six athletes. For Namu, he has earned the rare distinction of being named an All-Academic honoree each of his four years of college. There are very few athletes who have accomplished that feat. Liam, Cooper, Amber, Mira, and Ella were part of strong Distance Medley Relays this year, and it is exciting for Liam, Amber, and Ella to conclude their Oberlin careers with this kind of recognition and to be able to share in first-years Cooper and Mira achieving their first major collegiate track honor," Head Coach Ben Wach and Assistant Coach Izzy Alexander add.

A San Francisco native, Adams recorded six top-10 finishes between indoor and outdoor, including an individual victory in the 3,000m at the Crimson and Gold Invitational with a personal best of 11:14.14 and as a member of the winning distance medley relay (DMR) team at the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge, setting a meet record in the event.

Graduating with degrees in biology and neuroscience, Borofsky snagged an individual victory in the 3,000m at the Ohio Wesleyan Team Challenge and was a member of the All-Ohio runner-up DMR team with an overall time of 12:53.56. At the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships, the Connecticut native posted a fifth-place finish in the 5,000m.

A four-time All-American and five-time North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) champion, Makatiani marks the first Oberlin athlete from the men's track & field program to earn individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors all four years in the 17-year history of the award.

Earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during this past cross country season, Newman earned a trio of All-NCAC honors during the indoor and outdoor seasons, including a runner-up finish in the distance medley relay, graduating with six All-NCAC laurels between cross country and track & field.

The second athlete to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the cross country season, Tanski earned his first track & field All-NCAC honor after he ran the 800m leg of the DMR. The 800m champion at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships, the rookie earned All-NCAC accolades in the 800m at the outdoor championships with a third-place finish.

A native of Waltham, Massachusetts, Wozek recorded an incredible senior season to conclude her four-year career at Oberlin. Placing third in the 800m at the indoor NCAC Championships, the biology major emerged as the NCAC Champion in the 800m at the outdoor championships with a personal-best of 2:13.22.

In order for an individual to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

In order to qualify for All-Academic Team distinction, track & field teams must have an average cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
