Blankenburg Joins Sports Medicine

Oberlin, Ohio - Oberlin College Director of Sports Medicine, Jill Rondini has announced the appointment of Justin Blankenburg to the role of Assistant Athletic Trainer.
 
Blankenburg, a recent graduate of Kent State University's Athletic Training Masters Program and a Baldwin Wallace University alum, joins Oberlin after gaining valuable experience in athletic training with the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. 
 
"I am excited to join the sports medicine team at Oberlin College and support the health and performance of our student-athletes," Blankenburg wrote in an email to the Athletic Communications Office. "It is a privilege to contribute to such a strong athletic and academic community."
 
A Parma, Ohio native, Blankenburg began working alongside longtime Director of Sports Medicine Jill Rondini on July 1, who expressed her excitement about the new trainer.
 
"We're so excited to have Justin join us this year and we know he is going to be a strong addition to our staff," Rondini wrote.
 
Blankenburg, a certified American Red Cross First-Aid Instructor, will provide assistance to all of Oberlin's varsity athletic teams. has a special interest in injury risk and prevention, especially with noncontact injuries.
 
"I am passionate about sports medicine research," Blankenburg wrote. "I have a particular interest in the influence of biomechanics on injury risk. I have been able to present at professional conferences and publish research on ACL injuries and landing mechanics."
