Gambier, Ohio - The Oberlin cross country teams traveled to Gambier, Ohio, where they went head-to-head against many rivals in the NCAC championships hosted by Kenyon. The weather was a little cool with clear skies, making for ideal championship conditions. The men's team had five all-conference finishers, placing 3rd with 73 points. The women's team placed 7th with 163 points.

The Oberlin men's team kicked off the competition for the day, with spirits brought high thanks to a formidable group of cheering members from the Oberlin track team. The gun went off promptly at 11:00 am, launching the Yeomen into action. Third-year
Will Gordon led the scoring five, staying patient early in the race and running an especially strong last kilometer to place 10th in a personal best of 25:55, earning his first all-conference honors.

Fourth-year Charles Endres joined Gordon on the second team all-conference, blazing down the finishing chute to claim 13th in 25:58. First-year
Ryan Faris was just back, running a composed race to finish 15th in 26:11 and earning third team all-conference honors. Fourth-year
Liam Newman was right behind Faris, hanging on for 17th in 26:13 and notching his first all-conference honors. First-year
Cooper Tanski rounded out the scoring five, finishing right behind Newman to claim 18th (and third team all-conference) in 26:14.

Second-years
Grant Hirsch and
Toby Wells-Spackman remained within shouting distance for the majority of the race, working off of each other to displace competitors of the opposing teams. The classmates both earned personal bests, with Hirsch finishing 49th with a 27:40 and Wells-Spackman finishing 63rd with a 28:02. Following the duo, second-year
Daniel Beyda closed with a 28:14, crossing the line in 65th.

Greydan Villano, who took 82nd and finished in 29:19 in spite of facing an ill-timed ankle roll during the warmup. First-year
Tully Valentine-Maher closed his first conference championship in 31:47, crossing the line in 92nd place. Fellow first-year
Simon Swai finished in 33:24 to place 95th.

The Oberlin women's team was the second to race, set to begin at 12:15pm. The women's team packed together through the start, pushing each other through the first kilometer and onto the next. Fourth-year
Amber Borofsky was the first to cross the finish line in 29th with a time of 23:57. Third-year
Char Purcell crossed the line in 37th with a time of 24:17. Second-year
Solana Pearl crossed the line in 43rd with a time of 24:41, a 12 second personal best. Following close behind Pearl was the duo of fourth-year
Ella Wozek and first-year
Lieke Everts, working together all the way through the line. Wozek and Everts finished in 24:44 and 24:50 to place 44th and 45th, respectively.

Third-year
Zosia Mateja and first-year
Chelsea Larsen also worked off of each other to push to the finish, ending the race in 51st and 52nd with times of 25:00 and 25:02. Mateja had been working through a season of injury and ran a strong season best. First-year
Mirabel Adams finished in 56th with a time of 25:13. Second-year
Samantha Soto finished in 65th with a time of 26:06. First-year
Sofia Picucci finished in 78th, with a time of 27:45, a huge 15 second PR for the first-year.

Fourth-year
Celia Vaughn completed her first and last NCAC conference meet, finishing in 81st, with a time of 29:28. This was a 32 second PR for the fourth-year, and the accomplishment of Vaughn's season goal of breaking 30:00. Fourth-year
Serafina Yan crossed the line in 82nd with a time of 30:31.

Select members from the Oberlin cross country team will resume action next week on Friday, November 7, for the Wooster Twilight 5k. The first race is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.Â
