Women’s Tennis Outlasts Kalamazoo for a Weekend Sweep

Oberlin, Ohio - The Oberlin College women's tennis team earned a 5-4 win over the visiting Kalamazoo College Hornets on Sunday morning to complete a weekend sweep against the state of Michigan with wins over Hope and K'Zoo.

The Yeowomen both doubles matches they contested in to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. In the top spot, the second-year duo of Marta Laska and Anna Pastore made short work of Renee Torres and Sophie Zhuang with an 8-2 victory. The pairing of Dina Nouaime and Lydia Zafeiri followed with an 8-6 triumph over Meghan Killmaster and Maddie Hurley.

Still needing to win three of four singles matches to secure the match victory, the Yeowomen did just that as they prevailed in flights two through four en route to moving to 2-1 in dual matches this season.

Pastore was a 6-2, 6-3 victor over Zhuang in the second position while Nouaime moved to a perfect 4-0 on the year by recording a 6-2, 7-5 win over Killmaster at No. 3.

A first-year from Vyronas, Greece, capped off the winning ways with her third singles win of the season, knocking off Hurley by the scores of 6-2 and 6-4 in the fourth flight.

The Yeowomen are back in action next weekend with another pair of home matches against Ohio Athletic Conference foes. They will first tangle Otterbein University on Saturday at 5 p.m. before welcoming the Yellow Jackets of Baldwin Wallace for a Sunday matinee at 1 p.m.
