Men’s Soccer Falls at ONU

Box Score Ada, Ohio - The Oberlin College men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 setback at Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.

The Yeomen failed to create many chances in the final third, triggering just four shots in the first 72 minutes of action.

ONU led 2-0 at the intermission on the strength of goals from Bryan Kern and Gavin Marshall.

Oberlin put two balls on frame in the opening stanza but Anthony Pacewicz and Nathan Thompson each had their attempts turned away by Josh Ellis.

Ryan Sommerfeld, who assisted on the Polar Bears first goal, left no doubt in the eventual outcome with a score in the 58th minute.

The Yeomen would finally break through in the 79th minute as Nasim Amer finished off a pass from Carlos Febles-Flores.

Colvin Iorio went the distance between the pipes for the Yeomen, making three saves.

ONU finished with a 15-6 advantage in shots, which included a 6-4 margin in shots on goal. The Polar Bears also doubled up the Yeomen 6-3 in corner kicks.

The Yeomen return home to host Grove City on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
