Box Score Oberlin, OH- The Oberlin men's tennis team hosted DII program Tiffin at home for a dual match on Saturday evening. The Yeomen dropped 7-0 to the Dragons to move to 1-7 on the season in dual matches.
Starting in the doubles competition,
James Dill and
Sean Billerbeck paired up in the No. 1 spot but ultimately fell 6-2 to their Tiffin counterpart.
Sebastien Naginski and
Ben Echikson fell as well to their opponent, in 6-1 fashion. In the final third spot, the duo of
Rohan Gold and
Grant North tried for victory but fell short 6-3 to Tiffin. After the three losses, the Yeomen sat 1-0 behind the Dragons.
Billerbeck got the singles matches started in the top spot, but fell 6-1, 6-2. Looking for a closer match, Dill battled from a 6-2 loss in the first game to closer 6-4 final. Down 2-0, Gold looked to get on the board for Oberlin but came up unsuccessful, losing his match 6-3, 6-3.
Sam Topper stepped up in the No. 4, with Naginski in the fifth spot but neither were able to pull out a victory as they fell 6-2, 6-3 and 6-4, 6-2, respectively. Closing out the match was North in the No. 6 singles spot, but with another 6-3, 6-4 loss, Tiffin completed the sweep of Oberlin 7-0.
The Yeomen take the court again tomorrow, March 13 as they host Mount Union at the Heisman Field House. First serve is set for 12pm.
