Oberlin, Ohio – Hosting their final match of the regular season, the Oberlin College men's tennis team dominated against Wooster on Saturday morning. Collecting a 7-0 victory, the Yeomen improve to 7-13 on the season and 3-4 in the NCAC.
Grabbing the first match of doubles play,
Shawn Lisann and
Brady Huggett made quick work of the top court with a 6-2 victory. On the second court,
Zain Makada and
Enrique Margain put up a fight against Ian Royse and Anthony VanOyen, but ultimately fell 6-3. Coming down to the hire,
Oliver Knijnenburg and
Max Brose held the Yeomen's doubles point in their hands, needing extra games to seal the deal. Winning 7-5, Oberlin grabbed the first point of the match.
Up 1-0, the Yeomen rolled beginning with wins from Lisann (6-2, 6-3) and Makada. Clinching the match with a dominate win Margain took down his No. 3 opponent 6-0, 6-2. Looking to complete the sweep of, Brose (6-0, 6-1) and Huggett (6-2, 6-1) brought the Crimson and Gold within one of breaking out the brooms.
Oliver Faranda started the party, with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6.
With the victory, the Yeomen claim the No. 4 seed in the NCAC Tournament, beginning next weekend, Friday, May 2, at Denison. Oberlin is set to take on No. 4 Wabash, at 11 a.m., aiming to avenge the close, 5-2 loss earlier this month.
