Yeomen Beat Down Battling Bishops

By James Foster '26

\Delaware, Ohio - The Oberlin College men's tennis team stormed past Ohio Wesleyan University for their second conference win of the season.

After falling down an early break, third-year Shawn Lisann and first-year Brady Hugget climbed out of a 2–4 hole to beat Ohio Wesleyan's No. 1 duo, Gabe Fogle and Koby Francis, 6–4. Second-year Zain Makada and first-year Enrique Margain rolled past Ian Tsai and Rainer Holl for a 6–2 win at No. 2 doubles. First-years Oliver Knijnenburg and Max Brose fought through some nerves to clinch the doubles sweep over Marcus Bode and Max Jody, 6–4.

Lisann had the longest match of singles play, taking on in the No. 1 slot. Lisann played clutch tennis in the super tiebreak for a 6–2, 5–7, 10–8 win.

Makada cruised past Ohio Wesleyan's Fogle in a 6–2, 6–0 rout, while Oberlin's No. 3 Margain took down Francis 6–1, 6–2.

Brose continued his singles success this season with a clinical 6–2, 6–0 win over Holl in the No. 4 slot. Second-year Ben Tichauer fought through a tough first set before running away with the second in a 7–6 (1), 6–1 victory over Jody.

Ohio Wesleyan's sole point of the day came at the expense of third-year James Foster, who couldn't carry over the momentum from the second set into the super tiebreak and fell 6–4, 3–6, 10–7 to Bode.

With the win, Oberlin improves to 6–11 on the season and 2–2 in conference play.
