Oberlin, Ohio – Taking on the top talent in the conference the Oberlin College men's tennis team fell to #9 Denison, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Max Brose and
Oliver Knijnenburg (6-4) grabbed the team's only win in the No. 3 doubles slot, as Oberlin fall to 6-12 on the season.
Alongside the rookie duo,
Brady Huggett and
Shawn Lisann fell 6-1 in the top flight just as
Zain Makada and
Enrique Margain also lost their No. 2 set, 6-1.
In singles play, Makada finished first on the No. 1 court, dropping a 6-4, 6-0 match. On the second court, Margain battled but came up short, 6-3, 6-2. Brose lost the first set 6-1, but kept it close before falling in the second set 6-4. On court four, Huggett lost 6-0, 6-2 to his Big Red counterpart. Continuing down the line, Knijnenburg lost his No. 5 match 6-0, 6-1, while
Ben Tichauer rounded out the day with a 6-2, 6-2 loss at No. 6.
Oberlin hits the road one last time for a matchup against Kenyon on Wednesday, April 23 for a 4 p.m. start time.
