Box Score Meadville, PA — The No. 37-nationally ranked Oberlin College men's tennis team defeated Allegheny College, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The Yeomen took the bottom two doubles matches as
Manickam Manickam and
Michael Drougas earned a 8-1 victory at No. 2.
Robert Gittings and
Levi Kimmel were victorious in the third doubles flight, 8-6.
The Yeomen took the match in singles as they won all six flights.
Elliot Nuss earned a victory at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0),
Camron Cohen swept by the Gators' Mike Siegal in the third flight (6-0, 6-1), while
Zachary Vaughn took the top flight (6-1, 6-2) and Kimmel prevailed at No. 4 (6-2, 6-1).
The No. 2 and 5 pairings were the most closely contested, but Oberlin ultimately prevailed in two sets. Manickam won at No. 2 6-2, 6-3 and
Matthew Gittings won the fifth flight, 6-2, 7-5.
Oberlin finishes NCAC East play with a mark 2-1 and are now 9-8 overall.
The Yeomen have a quick turnaround as they host the No. 28 Denison University Big Red tomorrow at 1 p.m. in its final contest before the conference championships.
