All-Ohio Results // Bucknell Bison Invite ResultsDelaware, Ohio – The Oberlin College track and field teams were in action at the All-Ohio Championship meet on Saturday on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University.
The Oberlin women placed sixth out of 18 schools with 49.33 points, while the Yeomen ended 16
th with 13.5 points.
The first-year duo of
Monique Newton and
Ana Richardson gave Oberlin 14 points in the discus as they placed second and third, respectively. Newton bested Richardson's school record with a toss of 140.05, while Richardson was third with a mark of 134-02. Newton would also add a new school record in the shot put with a winning throw of 43-05.75.
In her first outdoor All-Ohio meet, first-year
Lilah Drafts-Johnson scored by placing eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 33-08.75. She would later return to take third place in the 400-meter hurdles with a mark of 1:04.07.
Peyton Boughton, a first-year, impressed in the 10,000 meters as she completed the course in 39:18.16 to place second overall.
Running in her final All-Ohio meet,
Margaret Miller added another Oberlin point by placing eighth in the 100-meter dash with a timestamp of 12.87.
The Yeowomen ended the meet with a second-place showing in the 4x400-meter relay. The foursome of Drafts-Johnson,
Deirdre Haren,
Ashley Parish and Miller combined to stop the clock at 4:02.05
On the men's end,
Evan Finch secured 3.5 team points as he tied for fifth in the high jump as he cleared 6-04.
Junior
Joshua Urso helped the Yeomen's cause, securing four points with a fifth-place run in the 1,500 meters with a mark of 3:59.15.
In his last All-Ohio meet, senior
Jerry Choi placed third in the 400-meter hurdles as he flew through the track in 54.53.
In the 10,000 meters
Gavin Ratcliffe placed 12
th with a time 33:49.79, while
E.J. Douglas added a 10
th-place showing the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:51.85.
The 4x400 team of Urso,
James Tanford,
Kyle Tribble and Choi posted a season-best mark of 3:26.61 to place ninth overall.
Also running at Bucknell's Bison Invitational were the senior distance trio of
Carey Lyons,
Emma Lehmann and
Sarah Jane Kerwin. Lyons was the first go off as she took fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by besting her own school record by four tenths of a second with a mark of 10:49.39. Currently, that mark is good for the third fastest in Division III this season.
Kerwin took sixth in the 10,000 meters, completing the journey is 36:26.98, which is seventh best in the nation at this point. Lehmann clocked a 17:49.80 in the 5,000 meters, which stands as the 17th fastest time so far in 2015.
The Oberlin track and field teams are back in action next Saturday at the Kenyon College Invite.
