Box Score Oberlin, Ohio – It took nearly the full 90:00 for the Yeomen to find the difference against the visiting Student Princes of Heidelberg University. That difference, came off of the foot of
John Ingham in the 89th minute of regulation to propel the Yeomen to a thrilling 1-0 victory.
In a deadlock, 0-0, contest that looked destine for extra time, Ingham footed a pass from junior
Slade Gottlieb on the left side of the penalty area. Ingham dribbled into space and placed a shot on goal that fell into the right side of the twine.
The goal marks Ingham's fifth of the year, while the assist for Gottlieb is his fourth of the 2014 season.
Along with the game-wining goal, Ingham led the Oberlin men with four shots followed by sophomore
Sam Weiss and freshman
Timothy Williams, who each registered two shots against the Student Princes.
Senior goalkeeper
Oidie Kuijpers had a stellar performance against Heidelberg as he hit double-digit saves for the first time in 2014. Kuijpers tallied ten saves on his way to the third clean sheet performance of the year.
Their 1-0 triumph snaps a two-game losing streak for the Yeomen as they prepare begin North Coast Atyhletic Conference competition this weekend.
The Oberlin men, under the guidance of head coach
Blake New, will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 27, when they host the Tigers of Wittenberg University.
The Oberlin men will kickoff at 7 p.m. as the second leg of an Oberlin soccer double-header. Oberlin women are set to begin at 4 p.m.
