Oberlin, Ohio – The Oberlin College men's tennis team was unable to keep pace with high-powered Gators of Allegheny College as they invaded John W. Heisman Field House and left with a 9-0 win.
Despite the outcome, Oberlin did challenge in certain spots. At No. 1 doubles
Charlie Marks and Ben Truchin pushed Patrick Cole and Frank Mosconi to the brink, but ultimately fell 9-8 and 7-3 in the tiebreak.
The third doubles flight featuring
Soren Zeliger and
Brandon McKenna was also close, but the Yeomen duo fell short in an 8-6 loss to Tyler Triolo and Daniel Conroy.
At No. 3 singles, Turchin dropped the first set 6-3, but rebounded to take the second 7-5 against Alex Hurtuk. Unfortunately, Turchin was bested in the super-breaker by a 10-6 count.
In the fifth position, senior
Eliot Heaton also won his second set against Masconi 7-6 and 7-3 in the tiebreak. However, Heaton dropped the first set 6-1 and lost the breaker 10-7.
Oberlin will now rest up as it prepares to the host the NCAC Championship Tournament starting on April 26 through April 28.
