Box Score

Oberlin, Ohio – Two second half goals were all the Yeomen soccer team needed as they defeated host Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday night, 2-0. Oberlin is now unbeaten in six-straight matches and have pushed its record to 7-1-2.

Through an even first half that saw both teams get three shots on goal and earn one corner kick, neither side was able to develop an advantage.

The match broke open in the 51st minute when Slade Gottlieb buried his sixth goal of the season to the upper right corner. Nick Wertman picked up the assist on the goal, the third of the year for the freshman.

Just nine minutes later, the Yeomen added their insurance goal as John Ingham continued his hot streak, scoring his fourth goal in as many games. Louis Naiman bent in a free kick that Ingham was able to get his head on and drill into the net. Naiman started his fifth straight game for Oberlin and picked up his second assist of the season.

Brandt Rentel continued to dominate opposition as he earned his third shutout of the season and lowered his goals-against-average to 1.07. For the match, the senior made five saves.

The Yeomen will cap off the festivities of homecoming weekend with a 4 p.m. contest against Wabash College on Saturday.
